Get alerted about emergencies and other important community news by signing up for our emergency alerts through Everbridge. This system enables us to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather, fires, unexpected road closures, natural disasters and evacuations of neighborhoods.
You will receive time-sensitive messages wherever you specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, email address, text messages and more. You pick where, you pick how.

The City of Los Angeles strongly recommends subscribing to both of the following systems:

NotifyLA – Create an account to receive urgent notifications about local emergencies by phone, email, and/or text message. Subscribe to alerts for your neighborhood, schools, businesses, media, and other interest areas. Powered by Everbridge.

Nixle – Text your zip code to 888777 to opt-in or sign up online to receive email, text or voice messages with alerts and advisories from local law enforcement. This will sign you up to receive alerts from all agencies using Nixle in your zip code.

Alerts that Do Not Require Subscriptions

The federal government allows the City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles to use two federal systems during emergencies. These systems do not require sign-up or registration. 

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) – Evacuation orders and other important messages will be sent to compatible mobile devices based on your current location.

Emergency Alert System (EAS) – Alerts will interrupts local radio broadcasts and Comcast television programming in the event of a large-scale emergency.
